Financial Survival University Presents: Mind Your Finances

 

The program consists of ten workbooks.  Each workbook covers a specific topic and provides the basics necessary to understand that topic.  The first three workbooks provide the foundation for each person's understanding of how to manage his or her finances.  The remaining seven workbooks focus on specific financial topics that participants will need to understand how to make effective decisions.   Classes will be offered for two(2) days a week for five (5) weeks.  Certificate issued upon completion.  Location: To Be Announced.

Money Management Basics

 

COURSE TITLE & DESCRIPTION

 

You’ll receive a primer on determining your net worth and cash flow, and how to create a budget that provides you with control rather than restrictions over your money.  You’ll learn the basics of borrowing, including information about the types of credit, interest rates, credit cards and loans.  The final portion of this course will describe the information contained in a credit report, how to get a copy of your credit report, and how to read it. It also covers credit scores and the process for correcting any mistakes, as well as tips for building a solid credit history.

COURSE TITLE & DESCRIPTION

 

Covered topics include the basics of life insurance, disability insurance and long-term care insurance. You’ll also receive guidance for making decisions regarding types and amounts.    Included in this course you will learn how identity theft is defined, how it can happen, and provides simple steps you can take to help protect against this fast-growing crime. It also provides information on what to do if you have become a victim of identity theft.  Finally, determine whether renting or buying is appropriate as you walk through how to compare mortgages, the application process and closing.

COURSE TITLE & DESCRIPTION

 

This course provides information on IRAs, 401(k)s, contributions and matching, as well as information for making investment decisions for retirement.  You will learn what a financial plan is and help to determine goals.   It also covers the basics of creating an individual financial plan and the basics of investing and effective investing strategies, along with an overview of the most popular investment vehicles, including stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
